Hike Description

A scenic 60-minute drive brings us to the starting point, with Ramnstoknuten standing as a captivating landmark in the distance. Before setting off, we conduct an equipment check and a brief safety briefing, ensuring everyone is prepared for the adventure ahead.

The hike begins on a peaceful gravel road alongside a picturesque lake, passing scattered cabins that enhance the area's tranquil charm. After approximately 1.8 km, the road ends, and we transition into natural terrain, following a scenic trail winding past serene lakes.

The terrain, though occasionally damp, remains charming as we traverse the open landscape before descending into a forested slope. This scenic stretch invites brief photo breaks—an understandable temptation in such magical surroundings!

In summer, the forested section can feel warm, especially as we reach the valley floor and begin the next ascent. Fortunately, a small stream offers a refreshing spot to refill water bottles before continuing through the hilly terrain. If desired, we take a short detour to explore an old bear cave, a relic from the time when these animals roamed the area.

A final ascent, a brief descent, and then a few more steps upward—and just like that, we’re almost at the top!

Now, Ramnstoknuten awaits! A well-built cairn marks the summit of the mountain we admired from the car earlier. The reward? A breathtaking view—Høgsfjorden stretches to the northwest, while Frafjorden winds eastward between towering peaks. Here, we take a well-earned break, savor a warm drink, and soak in the scenery.

After our rest, we follow the same route back. If time and energy allow, we can take scenic detours to enjoy new perspectives and capture even more memorable moments.

This hike shares its starting point with our Lauvnesknuten hike, slightly east on the plateau. For those up for the challenge, both peaks can be conquered in a single adventure.
