Where do I begin. My jolly and knowledgable fishing guide for the day Espen, in his amazing boat took me out fishing on the Stavanger fjords. He showed me the local fishing spots and fish on the fish finder, the different fishing methods, which ultimately lead to amazing fishing.
We did bottom fishing for flatfish (I caught two), midwater fishing for other species (I caught many) and very deep water fishing for sharks (I caught three). After some hours fishing our hunger was meet by a freshly made fish lunch with our catch on an island. He even found a hut to make lunch out of the rain!
I would recommend this experience for anyone looking for fishing in Stavanger, you will not be disappointed!

A Calm Way to Experience Fishing in Stavanger
What To Expect On a Private Fishing Tour in Stavanger
Explore Norwegian coastal and fjord fishing on a private, guided fishing adventure based out of Stavanger. Our fishing tours take place in sheltered coastal waters and selected fjord areas, offering a calm and authentic introduction to traditional Norwegian saltwater fishing.
Each fishing experience is private and adapted to your interests, skill level and conditions on the day. Tours range from relaxed fjord fishing to deeper water fishing with heavier gear, focusing on learning techniques, understanding fish behavior and reading underwater terrain using local knowledge and modern sonar.
Rather than chasing guaranteed catches, the emphasis is on the experience itself - learning how tides, depth and seabed structure influence where fish gather, and enjoying time on the water at a comfortable pace. Fishing is guided step by step, making the tours suitable for beginners, families and more experienced anglers alike.
Depending on the tour length and conditions, fishing experiences may include coastal species such as cod, pollock and mackerel, as well as deeper-water species like ling and tusk. Some tours also allow for simple outdoor cooking, short shore landings or quiet breaks to enjoy the fjord environment.
With a strong focus on safety, comfort and local knowledge, these fishing adventures offer a genuine and personal way to experience Norwegian coastal fishing - away from crowds, fixed schedules and mass tourism.
