Explore Stavanger’s most beautiful mountain trails - from iconic landmarks like Pulpit Rock to quiet, panoramic summits only locals know. All hikes are private, personal and adapted to your pace.
About StavangerAdventure
Stavanger Adventure offers private, guided hiking, fjord and fishing experiences in the Stavanger region, focused on calm travel, learning and personal guiding - far from mass tourism.
All tours are designed to be calm, personal and meaningful - focusing on learning, presence and real experiences in nature rather than rushed itineraries or mass tourism.
Whether we’re walking mountain trails, exploring the fjord by boat or fishing along the coast, the approach is always the same: slow down, adapt to conditions and let the landscape guide the day.
Private hikes, fjord and fishing experiences - guided the calm way

My name is Espen, and I’m the local guide and certified boat operator behind Stavanger Adventure. I started Stavanger Adventure because I wanted to offer something different from the typical fast-paced tour model - a way to experience this coastline slowly, with space to breathe, learn, and truly be present in nature.
I grew up on the southwest coast of Norway, surrounded by fjords, islands and coastal mountains. Some of my strongest memories are simple ones - early morning hikes above the fjord, quiet fishing evenings between the islands, and learning to respect how quickly weather can shape a day on the coast. From an early age, hiking, fishing and spending time on the water were a natural part of everyday life - not just activities, but ways of learning how nature, weather and terrain shape this coastline.
Over time, that connection developed into a deep respect for the landscape and a strong focus on moving safely and thoughtfully through it. Whether guiding on land or at sea, I believe the best experiences come from slowing down, paying attention and understanding what you are seeing - not from rushing between highlights.
Today, that philosophy defines how I guide. When you join a tour with me, the experience is shaped around your pace, comfort level and interests - whether you want an iconic viewpoint, a quiet fjord crossing, or a first fishing experience in sheltered waters.
I focus on safety, comfort and clear guidance, while sharing stories about the fjord, the mountains, wildlife and the people who have lived along this coast for generations.

One Philosophy - Three Ways to Experience Nature
Calm · Personal · Real
That philosophy runs through all experiences:

Private hikes to iconic viewpoints and lesser-known trails, adapted to your fitness level, pace and interests.
We focus on safe route choices, storytelling, geology, local history and experiencing the landscape without pressure.
Hiking Adventures

Private boat tours exploring sheltered coastal waters, islands and fjord landscapes around Stavanger. These tours are about learning, observation and enjoying the fjord at a relaxed pace - with optional shore landings and simple outdoor experiences when conditions allow.
Many journeys continue into the Lysefjord, where the iconic Pulpit Rock rises high above the water, experienced quietly and without the crowds of the hiking trail.
Fjord Adventures

Guided coastal and fjord fishing focused on learning techniques, understanding the underwater landscape and enjoying time on the water.
Fishing is never rushed, and the experience is about presence and knowledge - not guaranteed catches.
Fishing Adventures

All fjord and fishing experiences take place aboard a premium, stable adventure boat designed for safe and comfortable coastal travel in Norwegian conditions.
The boat features a warm, enclosed cabin that provides shelter from wind and spray, allowing guests to stay relaxed and comfortable throughout the tour. This makes the experience well suited for a wide range of guests - including families, older travelers and those new to boating or fishing.
Modern navigation, positioning and safety systems are used at all times. Advanced helm and joystick control allow for precise, calm maneuvering and steady positioning when needed, contributing to a smooth, controlled experience both underway and at rest. Professional safety equipment is always on board, and a full safety briefing is provided before departure.
For fishing tours, high-quality rods, reels and gear are used, along with modern sonar to help understand underwater terrain and fish habitats. The focus is on calm guidance, learning and safe handling rather than fast-paced or competitive fishing.
For hiking experiences, all route planning, safety assessments and pacing are carefully adapted to the group, weather conditions and terrain. The same philosophy applies on land as at sea - moving at a comfortable pace, making informed decisions and prioritizing safety, awareness and enjoyment of nature.
The Boat & Equipment

Stavanger Adventure is intentionally small.
I personally guide most tours - on land and at sea - ensuring a consistent level of quality, safety and personal attention.
This allows every experience to remain flexible, personal and authentic.
A Small Company - Personally Guided

Because great experiences don’t come from rushing.
They come from:
taking time
listening to the landscape
adjusting to condition
and being present in the moment
If you’re looking for a private hiking, fishing or fjord experience where learning, comfort and connection come first - you’re very welcome to join us.

Espen was an absolutely fantastic tour guide - honestly one of the best we've ever had, and we travel quite a bit.
I don't usually take the time to write reviews for tour guides, but Espen absolutely deserves the recognition. If you're looking to go hiking in Norway or want a more active adventure beyond the typical tourist activities, I cannot recommend him highly enough. 10/10 review for sure. I would even go beyond to give him a 12/10 if I could.
Thank you again, Espen, for making our time in Norway so memorable!

Espen took me and my parents up Pulpit rock and it was great! He was very nice, personable, and laid back.
He came prepared with a safety recording prior to the hike, had food/water for us during the hike and at the top and also came with a camera and drone for amazing pictures.
Overall 10/10 would recommend him as a guide!
