✨ What to Expect on the Fjord
This private 5-hour deep-water fishing tour takes place in sheltered fjord areas near Stavanger, focusing on deeper fishing than our standard fjord trips. We fish from a stable, premium adventure boat, allowing for a calm pace with full attention on comfort, safety and learning.
Deep-water fishing is different from regular fjord fishing. We typically get fewer bites, but there is a chance of catching larger fish when conditions are right. This style of fishing requires more patience, and younger children may find the waiting time more challenging than on regular fishing tours.
We use natural bait, which we either catch at the start of the tour or bring with us. Standard fishing equipment is included, and guests with their own gear are welcome to bring it. Your guide explains the techniques used for deep-water fishing and adapts the experience to each guest’s interest and comfort level.
Using modern sonar and local knowledge, we explore deeper underwater structures and natural fish habitats shaped by the fjord environment. The focus is on understanding how depth, seabed and bait influence fish behavior - not on guaranteed catches.
If fish are caught, your guide can demonstrate basic fish handling and preparation on board. Route, pace and fishing time are always adjusted to weather and sea conditions to ensure a safe and comfortable experience.
A calm, private and honest deep-water fishing experience - focused on learning, patience and the unique character of fjord fishing at depth.

ABOUT YOUR GUIDE
My name is Espen, and I’m the fishing guide behind Stavanger Adventure. I grew up fishing the fjords and coastal waters around Stavanger - from shallow rocky bays to deep channels shaped by ancient glaciers. These waters have always been my second home.
Coastal fishing, to me, is about calmness, learning and being close to nature. I enjoy showing guests how simple and enjoyable Norwegian saltwater fishing can be, whether it’s your first time holding a rod or you’ve fished for years.
Each spot has its own character, and I love sharing the local knowledge that helps us find fish year-round. On my fishing trips, we use high-quality rods and simple, effective techniques that work for beginners and experienced anglers alike. We often catch species such as cod, pollock and mackerel - but part of the fun is that you never know what might strike.
As a certified boat operator, I always focus on safety, good seamanship and giving guests a comfortable experience on the water.

ABOUT THE BOAT
Your fishing experience takes place aboard a Axopar 28 Cabin - a modern, comfortable and stable adventure boat designed for safe coastal fishing.
The enclosed cabin provides shelter from wind and spray, allowing guests to stay warm, relaxed and comfortable throughout the tour. The boat is well suited for beginners, experienced anglers, families and older guests alike.
We use top-class sonar and fish-finding technology, helping us locate fish and understand the underwater terrain. Advanced positioning features allow the boat to hold a steady position while fishing, creating a calm and controlled environment ideal for guiding and learning.
An onboard toilet and spacious deck add extra comfort, making the experience smooth, safe and enjoyable from start to finish.

Deep-water fishing often involves fewer bites and longer waiting times, but there is a chance of catching larger and different species.
We use local knowledge, modern sonar and proven techniques, and focus on making the experience rewarding through learning, understanding and time on the water - not guaranteed catches.
On deep-water fishing tours, we target species that live at greater depths than those found on standard fjord fishing trips. Typical species include ling and tusk, and occasionally spiny dogfish (small shark), depending on depth, season and conditions.
Deep-water fishing is different from regular fjord fishing. Bites are often fewer, but the fish are usually larger and more powerful. Species and results vary with weather, season and depth, and there is never a guarantee of specific catches.

Some tours may include basic fish handling and preparation if fish are caught, while most deep-water fishing is catch and release.
The main difference is how much time we have to fish at depth and slow down.
5-hour Deep Water tour
A focused deep-water fishing experience with time to fish selected deeper areas using natural bait and heavier gear. Ideal for guests who want to try deep-water fishing without committing to a full day. The pace is calm, but fishing time is more concentrated.
7-hour Deep Water tour
A more relaxed and immersive deep-water fishing experience with additional time to wait for bites, adjust depth and techniques, and explore more areas if needed. If conditions allow and guests wish, we can also go ashore to prepare a simple outdoor meal using part of the catch.
Both tours are private and fully tailored to your group, with pace and focus adapted to weather, conditions and guest preferences.
