What’s Included in Your Private Fjord Adventure

My name is Espen, and I’m the local fjord guide and certified boat operator behind Stavanger Adventure. I grew up on the southwest coast of Norway, and the fjords, islands and sheltered bays around Stavanger and Lysefjorden have been a part of my life since childhood.
For me, fjord guiding is not only about travelling through beautiful scenery - it’s about understanding how this coastline was shaped by nature and the people who lived here for generations. When I take guests onto the water, I want them to feel that same connection.
On my fjord adventures, I focus on safe, calm fjord travel with meaningful storytelling about nature, wildlife and the fjord landscape.
About your Guide

Your fjord experience takes place aboard a modern Axopar 28 Cabin, offering a safe, stable and comfortable setting for relaxed fjord cruising. The enclosed cabin provides shelter from wind and spray, keeping guests warm and comfortable throughout the tour.
The boat is well suited for a wide range of guests, and allows us to move at a calm, unhurried pace that is ideal for guiding, learning and enjoying the surroundings.
Large windows and open deck areas offer excellent views of the fjord landscape and wildlife, while modern navigation systems allow us to make calm stops at selected points of interest. An onboard toilet and spacious deck add extra comfort, ensuring a smooth and enjoyable experience.
About the Boat

Yes. Our fjord tours are designed to be calm, comfortable and unhurried. We move at a relaxed pace, allowing plenty of time to enjoy the scenery, listen to stories and simply experience the fjord without any physical demands.
Yes. All fjord tours are fully private. This allows us to adapt the pace, route and focus entirely to your group - whether you prefer learning, sightseeing, photography or quiet moments on the water. Every trip is tailored to your pace, experience level and interests for a calm, personal and high-quality fjord experience.
Each fjord tour is private and shaped by both the duration of the tour and what you would like to experience. The focus is always on calm fjord cruising combined with guiding, storytelling and learning - but what we have time to include varies naturally between a 3-, 5- or 7-hour tour.
On shorter tours, the experience typically focuses on scenic fjord cruising close to Stavanger, learning about the landscape, wildlife and local history, with time to slow down, observe and enjoy the fjord environment.
On longer tours, we have more flexibility to explore a wider area and include additional experiences. Depending on conditions and guest interests, this may include viewing Pulpit Rock from the water, wildlife observation such as porpoises and seabirds, light fishing, swimming in calm conditions, or visiting cultural landmarks like ancient rock carvings or the viking monastery, Utstein Kloster.
If guests wish and conditions allow, we may also go ashore for short walks, exploring the shoreline, searching for crabs (a favourite with children), or preparing a simple campfire.
Because the tour is private, the route, pace and focus are adapted along the way - balancing what is possible within the time available with what you are most curious to experience.
If guests wish and conditions allow, we can go ashore for a short walk, rest or closer exploration of the surroundings. Going ashore is optional and always adapted to weather, safety and guest comfort.
Yes. Families are welcome. Children can join if they are comfortable on boats and able to follow simple safety instructions. The relaxed pace makes this a suitable experience for families looking for a calm outing.
Dress according to the weather and season. We recommend warm, windproof clothing and comfortable shoes. The enclosed cabin provides shelter from wind and spray, and warm flotation suits are available for adults if needed.
Yes. All tours start and end in Stavanger harbour, only a short walk from the cruise pier and most central hotels. This makes joining the tour easy and convenient for cruise guests, families and visitors staying in the city.
Seasickness is rare.
We stay in sheltered coastal waters and avoid open ocean areas, and the premium boat is stable and designed for calm fjord conditions.
If you know you are sensitive to motion, you may consider taking seasickness medication before the tour.Yes. The boat is equipped with an onboard toilet, adding extra comfort during the tour.
Yes. Our fjord tours are well suited for cruise guests. The tours are private, flexible and operate at a calm pace, with timing and pick-up adapted to cruise schedules when needed.
We offer fjord tours of different durations (3, 5 and 7 hours). All tours include a professional local guide, a premium adventure boat with enclosed cabin, safety equipment and a private, guided fjord experience focused on learning and exploration.
We don’t use instant checkout. Instead, you send a booking request, and we discuss your wishes, timing and the weather to create a safe and personalised fishing adventure.
Each tour page has its own request button, so you can easily send the details for the fjord tour you're interested in.No. You pay on the day of the fjord adventure, using a portable card terminal or cash.
This also gives us flexibility to plan around the weather and choose the calmest and most comfortable areas for your fjord experience. If conditions are not suitable, we simply discuss alternatives or another time - your safety and comfort always come first.
If you need to cancel, there is no charge, but we kindly ask that you respect the agreement, as last-minute cancellations take a spot someone else could have enjoyed.
