Private Fishing Adventure
7 hours

Spend a full day on the fjord, learning Norwegian coastal fishing techniques and enjoying a calm shore stop with outdoor cooking if conditions allow.

✨ What to Expect on the Fjord

This private 7-hour fjord fishing experience offers a deeper and more immersive way to explore the coastal waters around Stavanger. With plenty of time on the water and a relaxed pace, the tour combines guided fjord fishing, time ashore and a simple outdoor cooking experience in quiet natural surroundings.

The trip takes place in calm, sheltered fjord areas and is operated from a premium, fishing-friendly adventure boat designed for comfort, stability and safety. A warm cabin and comfortable seating make the experience enjoyable across a wide range of conditions.

Standard fishing equipment is included and suitable for beginners, while guests with their own gear are welcome to bring it. Using modern sonar and local knowledge, we explore underwater ridges, drop-offs and glacial terrain where fish naturally gather. Throughout the day, your guide explains how tides, depth and seabed structure influence fish behaviour, adapting techniques and pace to each guest’s interests and experience level.

If conditions allow, we go ashore at a quiet shoreline or small island for a relaxed outdoor cooking experience. If fish are caught, guests are introduced to basic fish handling and preparation, and we prepare a simple meal together. If not, we still enjoy a warm meal ashore, typically using local ingredients such as sausages or other simple food prepared over a fire, grill or gas burner. The focus is on the experience of cooking outdoors and spending time in nature - not on what ends up on the menu.

Time ashore also allows for rest, warm drinks and a closer connection to the fjord landscape. The overall focus of the day is on learning, presence and enjoying the environment, rather than on guaranteed catches.

Throughout the tour, route, timing and activities are continuously adjusted to weather and sea conditions to ensure a safe and comfortable experience. Professional seamanship, safety equipment and local knowledge are standard at all times.

The return to Stavanger follows scenic coastal channels, offering new perspectives on the fjord before arriving smoothly back at the harbour near the city centre and cruise port.

This 7-hour tour is designed for travelers who want more than a fishing trip - a calm, private and authentic Norwegian fjord experience that combines fishing, outdoor cooking and meaningful time in nature.

ABOUT  YOUR GUIDE

My name is Espen, and I’m the fishing guide behind Stavanger Adventure. I grew up fishing the fjords and coastal waters around Stavanger - from shallow rocky bays to deep channels shaped by ancient glaciers. These waters have always been my second home.

Coastal fishing, to me, is about calmness, learning and being close to nature. I enjoy showing guests how simple and enjoyable Norwegian saltwater fishing can be, whether it’s your first time holding a rod or you’ve fished for years.

Each spot has its own character, and I love sharing the local knowledge that helps us find fish year-round. On my fishing trips, we use high-quality rods and simple, effective techniques that work for beginners and experienced anglers alike. We often catch species such as cod, pollock and mackerel - but part of the fun is that you never know what might strike.

As a certified boat operator, I always focus on safety, good seamanship and giving guests a comfortable experience on the water.

  • No - fishing can never be guaranteed.

However, we fish actively using local knowledge, sonar and proven techniques, and focus on making the experience rewarding and engaging regardless of catch.

  • We fish in shallow coastal fjord waters where species like cod, pollock, mackerel, saithe and various smaller coastal species are common.

We almost always catch fish on our trips, but there is never a 100% guarantee - conditions vary with weather, season and depth.

Our focus is on learning and enjoying the experience. Some tours include preparing and tasting parts of the catch on board or during a short break, while most fishing is catch & release.

For guests with special interests, we can also explore slightly deeper areas where species such as spiny dogfish (small shark), tusk and ling may appear, depending on conditions.
We adapt the techniques, depth and use of sonar each day to give you the best possible experience.

  • The difference is mainly how much time we have to explore, fish and slow down:

    • 3-hour tour
A short and focused fjord fishing experience close to Stavanger, ideal for guests with limited time.

    • 5-hour tour
A more relaxed experience with time to explore a wider area, fish longer at selected spots, and enjoy breaks on the water or ashore.

    • 7-hour tour
The most immersive option, including the possibility to go ashore and prepare a simple outdoor meal from the catch (if successful), with time to slow down and enjoy the fjord from both boat and land.

All tours are private and fully tailored to your group.

  • Yes, conditions permitting.

On longer tours, we may go ashore for a quiet break, warm drinks, or meal preparation on the 7-hour tour.

  • We don’t offer instant checkout.

To book, simply send us a request with your preferred date and group size.

After receiving your request, we’ll get in touch to discuss your wishes, timing and weather conditions, and tailor the experience to suit you. This personal approach allows us to create a calm, well-planned and flexible private tour.

Payment is made on the day of the tour, using a portable card terminal or cash.

There is no cancellation fee. However, we kindly ask that cancellations are made as early as possible. Last-minute cancellations may prevent other guests from booking and affect our guiding schedule.

  • Safety always comes first.

If conditions are unsafe, we adjust the route, reschedule, or cancel with a full refund if no suitable alternative is possible. Weather decisions are made conservatively and professionally.

Since you don’t pay anything in advance, you won’t be charged if the tour has to be cancelled due to weather.

Sharing a phone number is optional, but highly recommended. It allows us to reach you quickly if conditions change shortly before the hike, so we can update you and confirm your preference.

Your safety and comfort always come first.

  • Not included:

    • Personal clothing (beyond safety and flotation suits)

    • Travel insurance

    • Alcoholic beverages

Everything essential for the fishing experience is provided.

  • Dress according to the weather.

We recommend comfortable outdoor clothing, sturdy shoes, and personal snacks if desired.

Lifejackets are provided for all guests, and warm flotation suits are available if needed. The boat has a heated cabin where you can warm up during breaks, but all fishing takes place outdoors.

  • Yes. On our 7-hour tours, we prepare a simple meal using part of the fish we catch, when conditions allow. I bring a small selection of accompaniments to complement the meal.

To ensure a comfortable experience regardless of the catch, I also bring a light backup meal if we don’t catch anything suitable for cooking.

Coffee and water are always included.
