FISHING IN STAVANGER
Private fishing
experiences in Stavanger
Stavanger offers excellent access to coastal and fjord fishing, with sheltered waters, islands and a wide range of fishing areas close to the city. Stavanger Adventure offers private fishing experiences for beginners, families, couples and experienced anglers who want a more personal way to explore the local waters.
Each experience is adapted to the season, weather and conditions on the day. Depending on the tour, fishing may take place from shore, in coastal waters around Stavanger or further into the fjords. Different techniques and fishing areas are used throughout the season, with a focus on learning, local knowledge and enjoying the experience rather than promising a particular catch.
Fishing equipment and safety gear are provided where relevant, and boat trips are guided personally by a local guide. Whether you choose a short evening trip, a flexible private fishing day, a shore fishing course or fishing in Lysefjord near Pulpit Rock, the experience remains private, relaxed and shaped around your group.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Questions about fishing in Stavanger
Still wondering about something? Here are a few of the questions guests often ask before booking.
Yes. Every fishing tour is completely private, so the boat is reserved exclusively for your group. I do not combine you with other guests.
The boat can accommodate up to six guests, and I adapt the pace, fishing and plan to the people on board.
No. Complete beginners are very welcome, and I also adapt the fishing for experienced anglers.
I provide the equipment and explain the techniques, tackle and fishing grounds as we go.
If you already fish regularly, I can focus more on local techniques, conditions and different types of fishing.
No fishing licence is required for recreational sea fishing in Norway with handheld fishing gear.
I provide the fishing equipment and make sure the fishing is carried out according to the relevant Norwegian rules.
The waters around Stavanger offer a surprisingly wide variety of species. Pollack is one of our main targets, while cod, mackerel, wrasse and other coastal species are also commonly encountered.
When conditions allow us to fish deeper water, species such as ling and spiny dogfish may also be possible. What we find depends on the season, depth, weather and conditions on the day, and catches are never guaranteed.
There is no fixed fishing route. Depending on the weather, sea conditions and season, we may fish sheltered coastal waters around Stavanger, explore deeper areas in the fjords or, when conditions allow, head farther out.
I choose the fishing grounds and techniques based on what gives us the best opportunities on your particular day.
There is no single best month. Fish species, locations and fishing techniques change throughout the season, and conditions can vary from day to day.
Rather than following the same programme throughout the year, I adapt each trip to the season and choose the areas and techniques that make the most sense on your date.
Yes. The fishing tours are well suited to cruise guests visiting Stavanger for the day.
Pickup is close to the cruise harbour, and I plan the starting time and length of the trip around your ship's schedule. I also allow comfortable time for the return before departure.
I monitor the weather and sea conditions closely before every trip. Because the tour is private, I can often adjust the route and choose more sheltered fishing areas when conditions change.
Safety and comfort always come first. If the conditions are not suitable for a safe trip, I will contact you and discuss the available options.
Fishing rods, reels, tackle, flotation equipment and all essential safety equipment are provided. The boat also has a heated cabin, and photos from the day are included.
You only need to dress for the weather and bring any personal food or drinks you would like. Warm layers and a waterproof outer layer are recommended, as it can feel cooler on the water than on land.
You are also welcome to bring your own fishing equipment if you prefer.
My fishing trips mainly follow a catch-and-release approach, and fish are handled carefully and released whenever appropriate.
On some trips, when the catch, species and conditions are suitable, we may keep a small amount to prepare and enjoy as part of the experience. In some cases, guests may also take a limited amount of fish with them after the trip, in accordance with Norwegian fishing regulations.
Send me an inquiry with your preferred date, number of guests and anything you would particularly like to experience.
Once we have agreed on the plan, I reserve the date for your group. Payment is normally made by card or cash on the day.
If you prefer to pay in advance, I can send a SumUp payment link up to two weeks before the trip.
If you would like to learn more about local fish species, seasons, fishing conditions and what to expect on the water, I have created a detailed guide to fishing in the Stavanger area.
